Graduates earn 509 degrees, certificates from SUNY Maritime College

About 31.2 percent of the 509 degrees and certificates handed out by SUNY Maritime College in 2017-18 were to students in engineering programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Neck conferred 159 bachelor's degrees in engineering programs.

But the single most popular program was for a bachelor's degree in marine science/merchant marine officer. Data shows the school gave out 158 bachelor's degrees in marine science/merchant marine officer, followed by 81 bachelor's degrees in mechanical engineering and 75 master's degrees in transportation/mobility management.

The college enrolled 1,734 students for 2017-18, including 1,586 in undergraduate programs and 148 in graduate programs.
