ABN Amro Services Company issued the following announcement on April 7
The measures taken to contain the coronavirus are also affecting the strained Dutch housing market. Economic forecasts and the Housing Market Monitor have shown that prospects for the disposable incomes of home buyers and the construction sector are being affected by the crisis. In our podcast series ‘Sector Advisory Soundbites’ two ABN AMRO economists discuss developments in the economy.
“After a period in which the housing market was strained, with limited offers and substantial price increases, the number of transactions in 2020 and 2021 will drop significantly. House prices are expected to increase slightly compared with 2019, but they are set to drop in 2021,” says Philip Bokeloh, Senior Economist at ABN AMRO’s Group Economics. Philip discusses the forecasts for the housing market with Madeline Buijs, Construction and Real Estate Sector Economist and moderator Jimmy Lange. Listen to the podcast for their discussion.
