Yeshiva University’s Katz School of Science and Health is expanding its presence in Midtown Manhattan with a new facility at the Beren Campus. The 30,000-square-foot addition, set to open in fall 2025, will include science classrooms, research labs, and collaborative spaces. This expansion comes as demand for Katz programs and graduates reaches record levels.

The school has seen significant growth since 2017, with enrollment rising from 132 to nearly 1,300 master’s and doctoral students. Applications to STEM programs more than doubled over the past year, increasing from 1,700 in fall 2024 to 4,200 in fall 2025.

The new facilities at 205 and 215 Lexington Avenue will feature seven modern science classrooms, advanced research labs, faculty offices, collaboration spaces, and a learning commons designed for student life and professional development. The space will also support the school’s alumni community through mentorship opportunities as part of a new STEM internship program.

Katz School offers programs in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), analytics, biotechnology, digital media, physician assistant studies, and nursing. The expanded facility will house research in digital trials using wearable biosensors data, digital twins technology, Internet of Things (IoT), secure embedded systems, robotics, and autonomous vehicles. These initiatives complement existing resources like the AI lab and Security Operations Center.

“Helping communities and people through new technology and medical expertise is what we do. This expansion creates a physical space that matches the scale of our ambitions—where students, researchers and innovators can come together to make the world smarter, safer, and healthier,” said Dr. Paul Russo, Vice Provost of Yeshiva University and Dean of the Katz School.

Three new researchers are joining this fall with expertise in Artificial Generalized Intelligence, Intelligent Secure Systems, medical AI applications—including experience with an NIH R01 grant. Recent achievements include acceptance into the NSF iCorps program for student teams and hosting duties for IEEE/ACM’s upcoming Connected Health Conference.

Professor Joseph Panzarella commented on how the Master’s in Digital Marketing & Media program has grown from 20 students in 2020 to 350 today: “The new space gives us a North Star, a central location where we can all come together. It will provide a more traditional campus feel for students where they can interact and hang out between classes,” he said. “As part of the expansion, digital marketing and media students will have access to a new interactive digital lab where they can test consumer products and develop real-world advertising strategies.”

With these developments—new faculty hires; increased student interest; expanded facilities—Yeshiva University continues its trajectory as an institution focused on education advancement and research impact.
