Spencer Jones, an outfielder in the New York Yankees organization and ranked as their No. 4 prospect, hit his 31st home run of the season for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. This home run moved him into a tie for the Minor League lead with Ryan Ward of Triple-A Oklahoma City. The homer traveled 443 feet at 111.2 mph. Jones had previously homered just once in his last 18 games after hitting six home runs over a seven-game stretch in late July. His performance has pushed his OPS to .989.
Other notable performances across Minor League Baseball included Jordan Lawlar of the Arizona Diamondbacks’ organization, who returned from injury and hit his first home run since June 17 while playing for Triple-A Reno. Lawlar has recorded hits in all five games since returning from the injured list on August 14.
Jesús Made, playing shortstop for High-A Wisconsin in the Milwaukee Brewers system, hit his second homer at that level and contributed with a stolen base, single, and walk. He is currently batting .364/.441/.635 over 13 games for Wisconsin and has collected 41 stolen bases this season across two levels.
Bryce Eldridge of the San Francisco Giants’ Triple-A affiliate Sacramento ended a seven-game stretch without a home run by hitting his 13th of the season. Despite time missed due to injuries, Eldridge has reached at least 20 home runs for the second year in a row.
Other prospects making headlines include Aidan Miller (Philadelphia Phillies), who doubled twice during a three-hit game; Ike Irish (Baltimore Orioles), who homered for Single-A Delmarva just six games into his professional career; Miguel Ullola (Houston Astros), who threw six scoreless innings for Triple-A Sugar Land; Jimmy Crooks (St. Louis Cardinals), who extended his hitting streak to nine games; and Mason Neville (Cincinnati Reds), who hit his first professional home run for Single-A Daytona.
Jones’ achievement places him among the top power hitters in Minor League Baseball this season.
