Spencer Jones, a top prospect for the New York Yankees, is making headlines with his recent performance in Triple-A baseball. Amidst trade rumors, Jones showcased his talent by hitting three home runs in a single game for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre against Rochester. This feat helped him lead the Minor League home run leaderboard with 29 homers this season.
Jones, who was drafted in the first round in 2022, has been on a remarkable streak. In his last 32 games, he hit 19 home runs, including seven in the past six contests. “I think it’s a combination of things,” said Jones about his recent form. He credits support from people around him and focuses on being himself.
In Thursday’s game, Jones achieved his milestone in just three at-bats against pitcher Bryce Conley. His performance included hitting home runs at impressive distances and speeds. Additionally, he made a notable defensive play by catching a line drive to prevent a run.
Despite trade talks, Jones remains focused on his role with Scranton and the Yankees organization. “At the end of the day, I’m focused on what I have to do here,” he stated.
Currently batting .403/.467/.871 in July at Triple-A, Jones continues to impress with both offensive and defensive skills. Across two levels this season, he maintains a .314/.411/.706 slash line without committing any errors defensively.
