On August 29, several top prospects across Minor League Baseball delivered notable performances as the season nears its end. Among them was George Lombard Jr., the No. 1 prospect for the New York Yankees and ranked No. 25 overall by MLB, who reached base three times for Double-A Somerset and hit his seventh home run since his promotion to that level. Lombard Jr., a first-round pick in 2023, also recorded his 30th stolen base of the season and is now one extra-base hit away from reaching 40 across two levels.
Konnor Griffin, the top-ranked prospect in all of baseball and a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates organization, had a standout night for Double-A Altoona. The 19-year-old drove in seven runs, including two home runs, raising his RBI total to 85 on the year while maintaining a .333 batting average with 64 stolen bases over three minor league levels.
Eli Willits of Single-A Fredericksburg continued his strong start to professional baseball with hits in each of his first eight games and an average above .400. Carson Benge hit his first Triple-A home run for Syracuse and has posted strong numbers throughout the season.
Other players highlighted include Justin Crawford (Lehigh Valley), who collected three hits and two steals; George Klassen (Rocket City), who struck out nine batters; Bo Davidson (Richmond), who hit two home runs; Adam Serwinowski (Great Lakes), who struck out a career-high twelve batters; Druw Jones (Hillsboro), who recorded an inside-the-park home run; Carlos Jorge (Dayton), who notched five hits; and Nick Cimillo (Altoona), who completed the cycle for only the second time in franchise history.
