Elmer Rodríguez, the No. 3 prospect for the New York Yankees, delivered another solid performance on April 11 in Triple-A action. The right-handed pitcher allowed two runs, one of them earned, over five innings for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre during a 10-2 loss to Durham at PNC Field in the first game of a doubleheader.

Rodríguez’s early season performance has drawn attention as he continues to develop within the Yankees’ system. His ability to maintain fastball velocity and limit hard contact highlights his progress as a pitching prospect.

During his outing, Rodríguez struck out five batters, gave up three hits, and walked two. His fastball averaged 94.7 miles per hour and was put into play five times but resulted in only one hard-hit ball exceeding an exit velocity of 95 mph. He threw first-pitch strikes to twelve of the eighteen batters he faced.

In his first two starts this season, Rodríguez has posted a 1.80 earned run average over ten innings pitched with seven strikeouts and four walks while allowing just seven hits. Last year he played mostly with High-A Hudson Valley and Double-A Somerset before making one appearance for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre late in the season.

Rodríguez was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the fourth round of the 2021 draft but joined New York following a December 2024 trade involving Carlos Narvaez—a rare transaction between these rival teams that could benefit both sides. He is currently ranked as Pipeline’s second-best Yankees pitching prospect behind Carlos Lagrange.
