Yankees pitching prospect Carlos Lagrange delivered a strong performance in his second spring training outing on Friday, facing the Minnesota Twins. Lagrange, who is ranked No. 79 on MLB Pipeline’s prospect list, pitched three innings without allowing a run and gave up just one hit while striking out four batters.

In two appearances this spring, the 22-year-old right-hander has a record of 1-0 with a 1.59 ERA and six strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings.

Manager Aaron Boone commented after New York’s 17-5 victory on Friday: “The thing I’ve been pleased with with Carlos is, obviously, the stuff jumps out at you, the big fastball and the slider/changeup are really good pitches for him, but the strike throwing’s been there.”

During his outing against Minnesota, Lagrange reached a velocity of 102.1 mph on his fastball.

Lagrange was signed by the Yankees in February 2022 from the Dominican Republic for $10,000. Standing at 6-foot-7 and weighing 248 pounds, he features a repertoire that includes a fastball, slider, cutter and changeup.

In the 2025 Minor League season, Lagrange made 24 appearances (23 starts) between High-A Hudson Valley and Double-A Somerset. He posted an 11-8 record with a 3.53 ERA and struck out 168 batters over 120 innings.
