The New York Yankees have reached an agreement with Amed Rosario on a one-year contract, according to a source cited by MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand. The deal, which is pending official confirmation from the team, was first reported by the YES Network and will pay Rosario $2.5 million for the upcoming season.
Rosario, 30, played in 16 games for the Yankees last year after being acquired from the Washington Nationals in exchange for right-hander Clayton Beeter and outfielder Browm Martinez. During his time with New York, he posted a .303 batting average (10-for-33), including three doubles, one home run, and five RBIs.
Across both Washington and New York last season, Rosario hit .276/.309/.436 over 63 games. He had six home runs and 23 RBIs during that span. Notably, he recorded a .302 average (35-for-116) against left-handed pitchers. Defensively, Rosario saw action at third base, second base, right field, and shortstop.
General Manager Brian Cashman addressed the team’s need for more options against left-handed pitching as they concluded the Winter Meetings in Orlando. “I definitely want to give Aaron Boone some legitimate choices so he can match up when we’re facing a left-handed starter, because obviously we’re so left-handed that it’s a vulnerability right now,” Cashman said. “There’s not a lot of right-handed bats in the game that are accessible.”
So far this offseason, aside from selecting right-hander Cade Winquest from the Cardinals in Wednesday’s Rule 5 Draft, all Major League additions to the Yankees’ roster have been players who were already with the team in 2025. Alongside Rosario’s return are left-hander Tim Hill, outfielder Trent Grisham, and left-hander Ryan Yarbrough. Infielder/outfielder Oswaldo Cabrera and right-hander Clarke Schmidt have also agreed to contracts to avoid arbitration.
Additionally, earlier this week the Yankees reportedly signed Minor League deals with right-handers Drake Fellows and Bradley Hanner that include invitations to Spring Training.
