Tyler Deck Shipley, head coach of the New York University women’s cross country team, has been named the 2025 NCAA Division III Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The recognition follows a season in which Deck Shipley led NYU’s women’s team to its first-ever NCAA Division III National Championship on November 22 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The team also secured its second University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship in three years and won the Niagara Regional Championship.
Under Deck Shipley’s leadership, NYU’s women’s cross country program has achieved three consecutive podium finishes at national competitions. In 2023, the Violets finished as national runner-up.
“This award comes after Deck Shipley and the women’s team won the DIII National Championship on Saturday, November 22, in Spartanburg, SC. It was the team’s first in program history.”
