Later that day, Espaillat commented on the seriousness of attacks on public figures, emphasizing the importance of not tolerating such actions. He expressed gratitude for the response of the first responders in his post, noting, "Any attack on a public official is unconscionable and should never be tolerated. We’re thankful for the swift actions of first responders and that there were no injuries."

In a concurrent post, Espaillat expressed relief that Governor Shapiro and his family were unharmed after a fire at their residence, stating, "I’m grateful @GovernorShapiro and his family are safe following last night’s fire at his residence."

Adriano Espaillat has been a member of the U.S. Congress since 2017, having previously served in various roles within New York's state government. Originally from Santiago, Dominican Republic, he obtained a BA from Queens College, City University of New York in 1978.
