His tweet read: "Join me and other leaders of the community tomorrow evening at 7:00 p.m. for a prayer vigil honoring and remembering our brothers and sisters in the Dominican Republic." The vigil was scheduled to take place as a gesture of solidarity and remembrance. The post reiterated in Spanish at a slightly later time, as shown in another message: "Únase a mí y a otros líderes de la comunidad mañana por la noche, a las 7:00 p.m., en una vigilia de oración en honor y recordación de nuestros hermanos y hermanas en la República Dominicana."

In another tweet posted on the same day, April 11, Espaillat expressed appreciation for public support following an incident at Washington D.C.'s Reagan National Airport (DCA). The tweet stated: "Thank you all for the support following the incident at DCA!" The nature of the incident was not detailed publicly on the social media platform.

Espaillat, serving in Congress since 2017, succeeded Charles Rangel and had a prior career in both the New York State Assembly and the New York State Senate. Originally from Santiago, Dominican Republic, Espaillat resides in Manhattan. With a background in education from Queens College at the City University of New York, he has been actively involved in political service for several decades.
