Michelle Borde, a graduate of the Sy Syms School of Business at Yeshiva University, has shared her experiences and achievements following her completion of the school's online MBA program in May 2024. As part of the first graduating cohort from this program, Borde was recognized as a Sacks Impact Scholar within the Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks-Herenstein Center for Values and Leadership. This fellowship is awarded to students who develop projects addressing critical social issues.

During her time at Sy Syms, Borde collaborated with fellow student Eitan Kastner to create a software platform designed to streamline hiring processes for adjunct faculty in higher education. Additionally, they contributed to advancing Yeshiva University's partnership with the IRS’ Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, aiding local low-income residents with tax preparation.

Reflecting on her experience at Sy Syms, Borde stated: “My experience at Sy Syms has had a positive impact on my career. The program’s diverse curriculum...has equipped me with a well-rounded skill set that is highly valuable in the business world.” She emphasized the importance of networking opportunities provided by the program, which allowed her to build professional relationships and engage with business leaders and academics.

Currently employed as a Benefits Manager at Forvis Mazars USA, Borde focuses on designing employee benefits strategies. With 15 years of experience in employee benefits administration and strategic planning, she aims to become a Director of Benefits. Her goal is to develop benefit solutions that attract top talent while enhancing employee experiences.

Borde advises young professionals: “I would advise young professionals to build and maintain a strong professional network...Networking is a crucial skill for career advancement.”

In recognition of Black History Month, she encouraged reflection on Black individuals' contributions throughout history: “This month is a time to celebrate the resilience, creativity and strength of the Black community...Together, we can create a future where diversity is celebrated.”
