Assemblymember Alec Brook-Krasny expressed his concerns following Governor Kathy Hochul's 2025 State of the State address. Brook-Krasny criticized the governor's optimistic portrayal of New York's current state, suggesting it was disconnected from the reality faced by many residents.
"While Gov. Hochul took a victory lap today, families at home struggled to afford gas in their cars, put food on the table and pay their energy bills," Brook-Krasny stated. He highlighted issues related to public safety in New York City's subway system, pointing out recent violent incidents that have left many feeling unsafe.
"She claimed our subways were safe — meanwhile, residents feel unsafe after recent incidents of unprovoked attacks of stabbings, murders and fires," he continued. The assemblymember accused Governor Hochul of being "out-of-touch" with the challenges confronting everyday New Yorkers.
Brook-Krasny concluded his remarks by calling for change: "It is time for change, New Yorkers deserve it."
