CUNY School of Law Dean Sudha Setty has been appointed as the next president and CEO of the Law School Admissions Council. Chancellor Matos Rodríguez announced her selection, praising her commitment to increasing access to legal education and advancing social justice. Dean Setty joined CUNY in 2022, becoming the first person of South Asian descent to lead a CUNY school and the first woman of South Asian descent to serve as dean of an ABA-accredited law school.

Chancellor Rodríguez highlighted Setty's experience as a litigator, pro bono civil rights counsel, and constitutional law scholar. Her leadership at CUNY Law included expanding the Pipeline to Justice program for underrepresented communities and founding the First Impressions Youth Legal Collaborative. She also launched CUNY’s Institute on Gender, Law, and Transformative Peace with Brooklyn College.

Under Setty's guidance, CUNY Law achieved recognition for faculty diversity from the Princeton Review and was named the most racially diverse law school by preLaw Magazine. She also secured free comprehensive test prep for students through a partnership with Kaplan.

Dean Setty will conclude her service in June. An interim leader for CUNY Law will be announced later. Chancellor Rodríguez expressed gratitude for her contributions: "We know that at the Law School Admissions Council, Dean Setty will continue to build on the values of diversity, equity and academic excellence in legal education that marked her time at CUNY."
