Rep. Nydia Velázquez, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing New York's 7th district, recently expressed her views on several national and international issues through a series of tweets. Velázquez, who has been in Congress since 1993 after succeeding Stephen Solarz, shared her concerns regarding political appointments, celebrated a presidential birthday, and addressed matters concerning U.S. foreign policy.

On November 19, 2024, Velázquez commented on President Trump's selection of individuals for key government positions. She described the choices as "unconventional" and listed specific allegations against each nominee: "A man accused of drug use & sex with a minor for AG Someone accused of sexual assault for Sec Def An anti-vaxxer to lead HHS A woman who has parroted Russian propaganda for DNI." Velázquez concluded that these selections are not just unconventional but also "disturbing." "Trump's 'unconventional' picks include..."

The following day, November 20, 2024, she extended birthday wishes to the President of the United States via Twitter. Her message conveyed appreciation for his leadership: "Wishing a very Happy Birthday to @POTUS! Our nation is stronger thanks to your leadership." "Wishing a very Happy Birthday to @POTUS!"

Later that same day, Velázquez turned her attention to international affairs by addressing the conflict involving Israel and Gaza. She emphasized Israel's right to self-defense while expressing concern over the use of U.S.-supplied weapons in Gaza. Supporting resolutions proposed by Senator Bernie Sanders, she stated: "Israel has the right to defend itself, but these US weapons shouldn't be used to fuel atrocities in Gaza... I would vote for these resolutions if given the opportunity." "Israel has the right to defend itself..."
