170 sports coaches at institutions in Queens County earn on average $37,620 in 2022

Queens County’s 170 coaches earned an average salary of $37,620 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the 24th highest average salary per county earned by coaches at New York post-secondary schools during 2022.

Queens County is home to five post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, St. John's University-New York stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $296,276.

Male coaches of men's teams received $117,343 on average in Queens County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $45,339.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
