Juilliard Opera is set to present Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito on April 24, 26, and 28 at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater in New York City. Directed by Stephen Wadsworth and conducted by Juilliard Alum Nimrod David Pfeffer, the opera will mark a significant return after more than 50 years since its last performance at Juilliard in 1971.

Stephen Wadsworth, the director of the production, highlights the significance of La Clemenza di Tito, stating, “La clemenza di Tito, often mistaken for an old-fashioned opera seria, is Mozart's most concise opera and a complex inquiry into human relationships.” He emphasizes the opera's themes of leadership, sacrifice, and the need for transparency in governance during turbulent times.

Expressing his enthusiasm for conducting the opera, Nimrod David Pfeffer shares, “It’s a huge pleasure for me to return to my dear alma mater to conduct one of Mozart’s greatest operas and a personal favorite for me, La clemenza di Tito.” Pfeffer praises the opera for its brilliance, comparing it to other renowned works by Mozart.

The performances are scheduled for April 24 at 7:30pm, April 26 at 7:30pm, and April 28 at 2 pm. The April 28 performance will be livestreamed to the public through Juilliard LIVE, the school’s digital platform, providing wider access to the opera.

La Clemenza di Tito will feature the Juilliard Orchestra under the baton of Nimrod David Pfeffer, with a full cast from the Ellen and James S. Marcus Institute for Vocal Arts. The opera will be sung in Italian with English supertitles, offering a rich and authentic experience for the audience.

Tickets for the performances are priced at $45 ($22.50 for members) and can be purchased through the Juilliard website or at the Juilliard box office. The production promises to be a remarkable showcase of talent and a memorable return of a classic opera to the Juilliard stage after more than five decades.
