Queens Borough President, Donovan Richards Jr., will be presiding over a meeting on Monday, April 8, 2024, where the Borough Board will hear presentations from the Independent Budget Office (IBO) and the New York City Commission on Human Rights (NYCCHR).
The meeting, to be held at Queens Borough Hall in Kew Gardens and live-streamed to the public, will feature insights from the IBO on the Mayor’s Fiscal Year 2025 Preliminary Budget. According to Sarita Subramanian, Senior Research and Strategy Officer at the IBO, the presentation will provide an overview of the agency's analysis.
In addition to the budget discussion, Vanessa Ramos, Managing Director of Education and Compliance at NYCCHR, will be discussing the protections against discrimination under the New York City Human Rights Law. Malek Al-Shammary, Press Secretary at the IBO, will also be present at the meeting.
The Borough Board, chaired by Donovan Richards Jr., consists of the borough’s City Council members and the chairperson of each Community Board in the borough. The Board focuses on various important matters including land use, development, public policy, and budget issues with potential borough-wide implications.
The meeting aims to provide valuable information to the board members and the public on key budgetary and human rights issues affecting the borough.
