2021 has 6.6% of New York County residents unemployed

New York County recorded an unemployment rate of 6.6% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That’s 64,396 people out of the 1,669,127 living in New York County at the time, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The unemployment rate in New York County has increased compared to the 5.7% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in New York County was greater than the statewide unemployment rate of 6.2%.

Of the 906,007 people who had a job during that time, 310 were employed in the Armed Forces and 905,697 belonged to the civilian labor force.
