Entering their traditional season with a 1-0 record with a non-conference victory over Pratt Institute in the Fall, the Brooklyn College men's tennis fell in their Spring opener at Purchase on Thursday, 6-3. Purchase began their season with a win this afternoon. Next Up: The Bulldogs are slated to open CUNYAC play against York at home on Friday, 3/17, at 3:00 pm.
How It Happened
- The home team took two out of three doubles matches with Brooklyn's Allen Mardakhayev and Mujibur Shaad winning at No. 3 doubles, 8-2.
- Purchase would go on to pick up victories at No.1, No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 singles to solidify the team win. Mordecai Lev won in straight sets (6-4, 6-1) in No. 5 singles and Mardakhayev went undefeated on the day with a close win at No. 6 singles (7-6, 4-6, 10-8).
- Ryan Sham and Aymen Kuc were defeated at top-flight singles, 8-4. Lev and Denis Redzematovic fell at No. 2 doubles, 8-3.
- Sham was defeated by PC's Julian Szuper (6-3, 6-3) at top-flight singles. Kuc fell to Eli Palacatshev (6-2, 6-0). Shaad was outlasted at No. 3 singles by Ben Joory (7-6, 6-3). Redzematovic fell to Yuta Kawamura (6-4, 6-1).
