Democrats are shifting the blame for the attack on the Capitol, according to Heather Higgins, chairwoman of the Independent Women’s Forum.
She suggested that the left’s current narrative of “unity” means Republicans accepting the fault and silencing themselves, The Epoch Times reported.
Higgins, during her interview with Jan Jekielek, of The Epoch Times’ American Thought Leaders program, said that unifying the country doesn’t mean asking Republicans to go along and comply with Democrats' point of views nor changing the narratives.
She said the blame for the attack on the Capitol Building first fell on President Trump. Then, she said the Democrats' narrative was “anyone who supported him was, in fact, an enabler of this.” Subsequently, it became “to people who have been silent and not critical of Trump were also enablers because of their silence.”
The perception of the left is extremely unhealthy, and not the way to call for unity, Higgins said.
“If you really want to unify the country, you have a level playing field in terms of the rules that apply,” Higgins continued. “And when it came to speech [it] was, you were judged by what you say and what you intended to say.”
