23 percent of SUNY Maritime College students played sports on university teams in 2017-2018

In 2017-2018, 23 percent of SUNY Maritime College students participated in collegiate sports, according to data made available by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).

SUNY Maritime College has 1,586 undergraduate students, of which 88 percent are men and 12 percent are women, and a total student body of 1,734 students. Of these students, 313 men and 86 women represented the school by participating in one or more of the sports with teams at the school.

This total does not include students playing intramural sports.

According to NCES, 8.7 percent of students enrolled at institutions of higher education with sports teams were on teams.

The sports at SUNY Maritime College with the most participants are football (93), lacrosse (56) and swimming (55).
