Cost of college went up for all students at the School of Visual Arts

Tuition and fees rose 5 percent for 2018-19 at the School of Visual Arts, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

New York students paid $39,900 to attend the four-year private for-profit institution this year – $1,900 more than the $38,000 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 56 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 379 students received grants or scholarships totaling $5.3 million and 270 students took out student loans totaling more than $3.1 million.

Including all undergraduates (4,390), 1,728 students used grants or scholarships totaling $24.6 million, and 1,282 students took out $9.4 million in federal student loans.
