Cost of college went up for all students at CUNY John Jay College of Criminal Justice

In-state tuition and fees rose 2.8 percent for 2018-19 at CUNY John Jay College of Criminal Justice, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

New York residents paid $7,270 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $200 more than the $7,070 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 105.5 percent more than residents this year, or $14,940. Their price tag grew 3.3 percent from $14,460 in 2017-18.

About 95 percent of the school's undergraduate population are New York residents. About 4 percent are residents of other states and 1 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 86 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,482 students received grants or scholarships totaling $13.6 million and 149 students took out student loans totaling more than $1.1 million.

Including all undergraduates (15,394), 8,912 students used grants or scholarships totaling $71.5 million, and 1,592 students took out $9.3 million in federal student loans.
