53 percent of applicants to the Fashion Institute of Technology were admitted for fall 2018

At the Fashion Institute of Technology, 79 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 83 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in New York enrolled 8,767 students in fall 2018, including 8,555 in undergraduate and 212 in graduate programs, data shows. 8.9 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

57 percent of undergraduates are residents of New York, and 34 percent are residents of other states. 9 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (43 percent) and Hispanic or Latino (20 percent).

The school admitted 53 percent of the 4,507 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 57 percent enrolled.
