St. Mary’s Healthcare was recognized as a Times Union Top Workplace for 2026, according to an announcement on April 14. The hospital is the only acute care facility in the Capital Region to have made the list in all fifteen years of the award’s existence.

The recognition is based entirely on employee feedback gathered through a confidential survey conducted by Energage, a workplace culture research firm. The survey measures aspects such as respect, support, opportunities for growth, and empowerment among staff members.

Jeff Methven, president and chief executive officer of St. Mary’s Healthcare, said, “We’ve made it a priority to build a culture of collaboration, innovation and inclusion—one that’s committed to the growth of all who work here. This award affirms that we’re succeeding.” Methven also said, “Our team is extraordinary in their commitment to our mission, our community and each other—and that is instrumental in making St. Mary’s a Top Workplace.”

Lisa Mazzoccone, vice president and chief people experience officer at St. Mary’s Healthcare said, “Word is spreading that there’s something really special about St. Mary’s. This is a place where everyone is valued and makes a difference—and it shows in the care we provide and our support for each other.”

St. Mary’s has been implementing a strategic turnaround plan focused on investments in services, compensation packages, benefits enhancements, recognition programs, professional development opportunities and increased transparency within its operations. As part of these efforts patient volumes have risen; new specialties and providers have been added; and staffing has grown by nine percent since 2023 with more than 1,600 associates now employed at the hospital.

Founded in 1903 and serving Montgomery and Fulton counties ever since then from several locations including its main hospital campus as well as outpatient facilities—the organization continues its stated commitment to providing comprehensive healthcare services locally.
