St. John’s volleyball wins five-set spring match against Hofstra at Carnesecca Arena

The St. John’s Red Storm women’s volleyball team defeated Hofstra in a five-set spring match at Carnesecca Arena on April 11. The set scores were 25-17, 25-21, 25-21, 12-25 and 11-15.

This spring matchup was the team’s only home contest of the season and featured strong performances from several players. Chole Bell led the team with seven blocks and six kills, while sophomore transfer Lejla Hadziredzepovic recorded a team-high ten kills. Kendall White added eight kills, and fellow sophomore transfer Brooke Boyles contributed six kills. Barbara Costa dos Santos chipped in with four kills as well. Hadziredzepovic, Boyles and Bell each tallied a service ace.

Freshman Teodora Stamenkovic made an impact both offensively and defensively by recording four-and-a-half blocks along with two kills. Rashanny Solano Smith also contributed defensively for the Red Storm, while Martina Capponcelli led the offense with fifteen assists.

St. John’s Red Storm Women’s Volleyball competes in the Big East Conference at the Division I level and represents St. John’s University within NCAA Division I competition across the United States according to the official website.
