The St. John’s softball team lost to Villanova, 4-0, in the second game of their three-game BIG EAST series on May 2 at the Villanova Softball Complex.

The result impacts St. John’s standing in the BIG EAST conference as they move to a record of 32-22 overall and 9-14 in conference play.

Ana Serafinko and Madison Konopka each recorded a hit for St. John’s during the game, while pitcher Loreley Francia completed her eleventh full game of the season with four strikeouts. Despite several scoring opportunities, including bases loaded in the seventh inning, St. John’s was unable to bring any runs across home plate.

Villanova took an early lead with a run in the first inning and added single runs later before sealing their win with a two-RBI single in the sixth inning. Francia managed to limit damage through much of the contest but could not overcome Villanova’s offense.

St. John’s will conclude its season with the final game against Villanova tomorrow at noon at Villanova Softball Complex. The match will be broadcast on ESPN+ and live statistics will be available on RedStormSports.com.

Looking ahead, both teams will aim to finish their seasons strong as conference play wraps up.
