The St. John’s softball team defeated DePaul 10-1 in the opening game of their three-game BIG EAST series on Apr. 2 at Cacciatore Stadium.

The result is significant as it marks the Red Storm’s second-highest scoring performance this season, showing strong offensive capabilities and positioning them well within conference play.

According to the team, St. John’s scored 10 runs on 11 hits, with a decisive seven-run fourth inning breaking open the contest. Jess Bianco led the offense with three hits, two runs scored and two RBIs, while Sarah Post hit her first career home run—a grand slam—bringing in four RBIs. Natasha Limbani went a perfect two-for-two with two runs scored, and several other players contributed hits.

The Red Storm took an early lead in the second inning when Limbani doubled and was brought home by Makenna Meadows’ single. Ava Fierst later scored on a wild pitch to make it 2-0. After a scoreless third inning for both teams, St. John’s extended its lead in the fourth with an RBI bunt single from Fierst followed by Bianco’s two-run single and Post’s grand slam to left center field.

Post’s grand slam was also noted as only the team’s third home run of the season so far. The Red Storm added another run in the fifth when Elanna Lysiak singled to right field, bringing home Bianco for a 10-0 advantage.

DePaul managed one run in their half of the fifth after a sacrifice fly but could not close the gap further as Serafinko limited any additional scoring opportunities for DePaul.

Looking ahead, St. John’s and DePaul will continue their series tomorrow at Cacciatore Stadium with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m., available via ESPN+ streaming and live stats through RedStormSports.com.
