The St. John’s women’s tennis team will face DePaul in a BIG EAST conference match at the USTA National Tennis Center on March 12, with first serve scheduled for 12:15 p.m.

This matchup is significant as both teams are performing well in conference play. St. John’s holds a 9-4 overall record and is undefeated in the BIG EAST at 2-0, while DePaul enters with an 8-6 overall mark and a perfect 4-0 record in league matches.

St. John’s recently returned from Florida, where the team split two matches—falling to Stetson before sweeping Bethune–Cookman 4-0. Team captain Alicia Gomez led the effort by going undefeated across singles and doubles during the trip, including a doubles win with Abi Redman against Stetson.

DePaul arrives on a three-match winning streak, which includes victories over UConn, Butler, and Illinois-Chicago. The Blue Demons are led by junior Sasha Stula, who has compiled a 20-7 singles record this season and is 10-1 when playing on the No. 1 court. Yasemin Pehilvan has also contributed significantly for DePaul with a combined singles record of 16-12 across multiple courts.

Friday’s contest will be the seventeenth meeting between these programs since 2008. DePaul leads the all-time series with eleven wins to St. John’s five; however, St. John’s won their most recent encounter last March in Chicago by a score of 4-3.

After facing DePaul, St. John’s will travel to Philadelphia to play against St. Joseph’s at the SJU Tennis Complex.
