The St. John’s women’s tennis team will travel to Florida this week for two matches against Stetson University and Bethune-Cookman University. The Red Storm, currently holding an 8-3 overall record and undefeated in BIG EAST play at 2-0, are scheduled to face the Stetson Hatters on Tuesday at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center in DeLand, followed by a match against the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats in Daytona Beach on Wednesday.

Tuesday’s contest marks only the second time St. John’s and Stetson have met. In their previous encounter in February 2022, Stetson secured a win over the Red Storm. This season, Stetson began strongly with three wins out of four but has since lost its last three matches, including a recent defeat to No. 39 UCF by a score of 6-1.

Stetson is led by senior Anastasija Adeikyte, who has achieved a 6-1 singles record so far this season. She also holds a 3-1 doubles record when paired with Katia Tuliakova on the top court.

On Wednesday, St. John’s will play Bethune-Cookman for their second meeting ever; last year, the Red Storm won decisively with a 7-0 sweep. During that match in March 2025, Alicia Gomez and Victoria Papadopoulou contributed strong performances, with Gomez not dropping a set in either singles or doubles competition.

Bethune-Cookman comes into this week’s matchups with one win and two losses this season. The Wildcats opened their campaign with a loss to Stetson before securing a victory over Edward Waters and then falling to Florida.
