St. John’s women’s tennis falls to Yale in Bronx matchup

The St. John’s women’s tennis team was defeated by Yale with a score of 4-0 on Saturday afternoon in the Bronx.

Yale began by securing the doubles point. While Alicia Gomez and Abi Redman earned a 6-3 win over Leena Friedman and Erin Ha at the No. 1 doubles court, Yale won at No. 2 and ultimately clinched the doubles point for a 1-0 lead.

In singles play, Yale extended its advantage with victories on courts No. 2 and No. 5, as well as benefiting from a default on court No. 6 to secure the overall match win.

This result marks the third loss of the season for St. John’s, bringing their record to 5-3. The team is scheduled to return to competition against UConn at the USTA National Tennis Center, with first serve set for 12:15 p.m.
