The St. John’s women’s golf team concluded its participation in the UNCW River Landing Classic on Tuesday, finishing fifth among eight teams. The tournament took place at the River Landing-River Course in North Carolina.
St. John’s recorded a total score of 942 over three rounds, which was 18-over par. On the final day, the team posted a 31-over, 319. Host school UNC-Wilmington won the event with a score of 874, or 10-over par.
One member of the St. John’s team achieved a tie for 11th place individually, finishing with a total score of 226, or 10-over par after three rounds. In the third round, she shot a 78.
Another Red Storm golfer finished in 13th place, marking her best result so far while playing for St. John’s. She completed the tournament at 12-over par with a total score of 228 and shot a 76 in the final round.
A Southern Illinois transfer was the top individual finisher for St. John’s outside of the main lineup, tying for 17th out of a field of 54 golfers with an overall score of 234.
The team will compete next at the Northern Kentucky Spring Fling from March 13-15 in Vero Beach, Florida as they look to defend their title.
