This marks the third consecutive season that St. John’s women’s basketball will play at Madison Square Garden. The BIG EAST matchup against defending national champion UConn is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. and will air on TNT.

The upcoming game will also be notable as it is St. John’s first nationally televised appearance at Madison Square Garden since facing DePaul on FS2 in February 2019.

St. John’s has played at Madison Square Garden 18 times previously and holds an all-time record of 11 wins and 7 losses there. Head Coach Joe Tartamella has a personal coaching record of five wins and two losses at the venue.

The team has won its last two conference games held at Madison Square Garden, including a decisive victory over Butler last season with a score of 65-43. This meeting between St. John’s and UConn will be their fourth encounter at this location and their first since January 2015 during the Maggie Dixon Classic.

UConn enters the game with a streak of 45 consecutive BIG EAST regular-season victories, which began after their last defeat to St. John’s in February 2023, when St. John’s secured a win inside PeoplesBank Arena (formerly known as XL Center).

Additionally, St. John’s is set to host Butler tomorrow afternoon at Carnesecca Arena for Girl Scout Day.
