St. John’s Women’s Basketball will resume play after the holiday break with a road game against Marquette on Monday night in Milwaukee. The game, set to take place at Al McGuire Center, is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. ET tip-off and will be streamed live on ESPN+ with Bob Brainerd and Chloe Marotta providing commentary.
The Red Storm currently hold an 11-3 overall record and are 1-2 in BIG EAST play. In their most recent outing, St. John’s lost to Villanova, 85-48, on Dec. 22 at Finneran Pavilion. During that game, Shaulana Wagner and Brooke Moore each scored 11 points, while Janeya Grant added 10.
Brooke Moore has delivered consistent performances for St. John’s this season, recording double-digit points in 10 of the last 11 games and leading the team with an average of 14.9 points per contest. Moore’s shooting percentage stands at 59.8%, which is the best in the BIG EAST and ranks her 19th nationally among NCAA Division I players. As a team, St. John’s ranks 21st in the country in field goal percentage at 47.5%.
Moore was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday, her third conference recognition this season. She also leads the team in rebounding (5.9 per game), blocks (1.3 per game), and three-point shooting (48%).
Shaulana Wagner is among the nation’s top assist leaders, ranking 19th with a total of 75 assists over 14 games this season and leading the league with an average of 5.4 assists per game.
Monday’s matchup marks the 37th meeting between St. John’s and Marquette since their first encounter in December 2005 following Marquette’s entry into the conference. Marquette holds a historical advantage in the series with a record of 23-13 but St. John’s has won two of the last three games between them.
Marquette enters Monday’s contest with an overall record of 8-4 and a conference mark of 2-1 for this season after defeating Truman State on Dec. 20 to conclude non-conference play.
The Golden Eagles are recognized as one of NCAA Division I’s top teams for three-point shooting accuracy, ranking sixth nationally at nearly forty percent success from beyond the arc and featuring five players who shoot forty percent or better from long range.
Skylar Forbes leads Marquette offensively with an average of 16.8 points per game while shooting nearly fifty percent from both inside and outside the arc; she also ranks second in league blocks per game (1.83). Halle Vice adds another scoring threat for Marquette, averaging over thirteen points per contest while leading her team—and ranking second in conference—in rebounds.
After facing Marquette, St. John’s will host DePaul at Carnesecca Arena on January first.
