The St. John’s Red Storm women’s volleyball team will conclude its 2025 season with two final matches this weekend. On Friday, the team hosts No. 12 Creighton at Carnesecca Arena in Queens for Senior Night, where four graduating players—Martina Ghezzi, Erin Jones, Lucrezia Lodi, and Ludovica Zola—will be honored before the match begins at 6:45 p.m. The season finale will take place on Sunday against Seton Hall in New Jersey.
Friday’s home match will be broadcast on ESPN+ with commentary by Johnny Gadamowitz and Paige Band. Sunday’s away match will air on SNY and the Pirates Sports Network, marking St. John’s first live TV appearance since the 2019 BIG EAST title match.
Erin Jones is close to a significant milestone; she needs just two more digs to become the first player in BIG EAST history to reach 1,000 career kills, assists, and digs.
Last weekend, St. John’s split their Midwest road trip by losing to Marquette but defeating DePaul. Chloe Bell tied her career high with 10 kills against Marquette, while Martina Ghezzi also had 10 kills. In the win over DePaul, Ghezzi recorded 16 kills as part of a strong offensive showing that included 12 aces for the team.
Earlier this season against Creighton, St. John’s lost in straight sets in Omaha with Jones leading in kills and Martina Capponcelli providing most of the assists. When they faced Seton Hall previously this year, St. John’s secured a victory behind a career-high performance from Ghezzi.
Creighton has already qualified for the BIG EAST Conference Tournament and leads all major offensive categories within the conference under new head coach Bryan Rosen. Seton Hall enters their final game without a conference win this season; head coach Shannon Thompson is in her fourth year with the program.
After these final matches, St. John’s volleyball will transition into its offseason activities and plans to hold its annual Walk-A-Thon event in December.
