St. John’s University seniors Erin Jones and Ludovica Zola have been recognized for their achievements both in athletics and academics, being named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team. The announcement was made on Tuesday.
Erin Jones will move forward as a finalist for the CSC Academic All-America selection, with final results set to be revealed on January 13, 2026.
According to St. John’s University, this is the first time since 2022 that players from its volleyball program have appeared on the CSC All-District team. In 2022, Rachele Rastelli, Eleonora Tosi, Giorgia Walther, and Wiktoria Kowalczyk received the honor.
Jones has added her first CSC award to a list of accomplishments during her tenure at St. John’s. She played in 128 matches and is noted for being one of only two players in program history—alongside Rastelli—to receive AVCA All-Region, All-BIG EAST, and CSC All-District honors in a single season. Jones maintains a 3.98 GPA as a biology major and is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society. She has also earned placement on the BIG EAST All-Academic Team each year she has attended college.
Athletically, Jones stands out as the first player in both program and conference history to achieve at least 1,000 career kills, assists, and digs. Her career totals include 1,323 kills and 1,295 digs; she ranks eighth all-time at St. John’s for kills. In her senior season, Jones recorded personal bests with 532 assists along with 294 kills and 269 digs. On October 3 against Providence she posted a career-high of 28 kills in a single match; later that month she delivered a career-best 55 assists versus Providence at Carnesecca Arena.
Ludovica Zola has also demonstrated excellence academically and athletically throughout her years with the Red Storm volleyball team. The Milan native completed her collegiate career with appearances in 120 matches as a middle blocker, amassing 344 kills and ranking tenth all-time at St. John’s with 337 blocks.
Zola holds a GPA of 3.87 while majoring in biomedical science and serves as a member of the university’s President’s Society—a notable distinction among students at St. John’s University—and Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society. Like Jones, Zola has consistently been selected for the BIG EAST All-Academic Team each year.
During the most recent season Zola contributed with statistics such as 58 kills and an average of nearly seven-tenths of a block per set over her appearances. Highlights included tying her personal best with ten kills during a five-set win over Providence at Carnesecca Arena and leading her team with six blocks against UConn on October 4.
