The St. John’s men’s basketball team, ranked No. 15 in both major polls, is set to face Villanova on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden. The game will be broadcast nationally on FOX, with Gus Johnson and Jim Jackson providing commentary and Allison Williams reporting from the sidelines.

Fans attending the game are encouraged to wear white as part of the team’s annual “White Out” event. Attendees seated in the lower bowl will receive special t-shirts for the occasion. Limited tickets remain available for purchase through various channels.

St. John’s comes into this matchup after its 13-game winning streak ended against UConn earlier in the week. This streak was the program’s longest since a 19-game run during the 1984-85 season. The Red Storm currently holds a six-game home winning streak at Madison Square Garden, having won 20 of their last 22 games there over two seasons—a feat not matched since earning 21 wins between 1957 and 1959.

Zuby Ejiofor has been named to the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Late-Season Team. He ranks among the top players in several categories within the BIG EAST Conference, including scoring, rebounding, assists, and blocks. Bryce Hopkins recently earned BIG EAST Player of the Week honors after recording double-doubles in victories over Creighton and Marquette.

Saturday’s contest marks the second meeting this season between St. John’s and Villanova—the teams have played each other more than any other opponent, with their all-time series tied at 67 wins apiece. St. John’s won their previous encounter this year at Xfinity Mobile Arena by a score of 86-79, led by strong performances from Hopkins, Ejiofor, Ian Jackson, and Dillon Mitchell.

Head Coach Rick Pitino will again face one of his former assistants; Villanova’s head coach Willard previously worked under Pitino with both the Boston Celtics and Louisville.

Villanova enters Saturday’s game sitting third in conference standings and has won seven of its last eight games, most recently defeating Butler. Four Wildcats starters average double figures in scoring this season; Duke Brennan stands out as one of the top rebounders both in conference play and nationally.

Following this matchup, St. John’s will return to Madison Square Garden for its regular season home finale against Georgetown on Senior Night.
