On Monday, St. John’s University saw two of its men’s lacrosse players recognized by the BIG EAST Conference for their recent performances. Freshman Chase Huggard was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, while sophomore Ryan Ormond earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
This is Huggard’s first conference weekly honor. He had a notable game against Delaware, recording career highs with two goals, two assists, and four points in total. He also contributed three shots on goal and collected three ground balls during the 12-11 loss to Delaware.
Ormond received conference recognition for the second time in his collegiate career. He previously earned BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors on February 10, 2025. In the game against Delaware, Ormond scored three goals and added two assists for five points, with five shots on target. So far this season, he has accumulated four goals and three assists for seven points, which is currently the second-highest total on the team. The recent performance marked his seventh career multi-point game and his fifth with at least four points.
St. John’s will play its next game on Tuesday when it travels to Hamden, Connecticut to face Quinnipiac at Quinnipiac Soccer & Lacrosse Stadium. The match is set to begin at 2 p.m.
