The St. John’s men’s basketball team, ranked No. 18 in the Associated Press Top 25 and No. 17 in the USA TODAY Coaches poll, will host Georgetown for its final regular season home game at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Red Storm currently holds a record of 23-6 overall and 16-2 in the BIG EAST Conference.

Before the game, St. John’s will recognize five senior players—Zuby Ejiofor, Bryce Hopkins, Dillon Mitchell, Oziyah Sellers, and Handje Tamba—as well as eight student managers for their contributions to the program. The on-court presentation is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.

The matchup will be streamed on Peacock with commentary from John Fanta and Donny Marshall. Tickets remain available through various outlets including RedStormTix.com.

Fans can also listen to the LEARFIELD St. John’s Radio Network broadcast with John Minko and Brandon Tierney on multiple platforms such as ESPN New York (1050 AM), Sirius XM Channel 85, and others.

St. John’s is competing for its second consecutive BIG EAST Regular Season Championship, trailing UConn by half a game heading into the last week of regular play. The team aims to win back-to-back regular season titles for the first time since 1985-86.

The Red Storm has been present in national polls for six straight weeks and has won seven consecutive games at Madison Square Garden, holding a record of 21-2 there over two seasons. In their last appearance at this venue, they defeated Villanova by their largest margin ever against that opponent in series history.

Senior forward Zuby Ejiofor recently recorded a triple-double with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists against Villanova. He became only the second St. John’s player this century to achieve this feat and is one of two players in the BIG EAST—and one of just 24 nationally—to do so this season. Ejiofor leads his team in scoring (15.6 PPG), rebounding (7.2 RPG), assists (3.6 APG), and blocks (1.9 BPG). Last week he was named to the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Award Late-Season Team.

Sophomore guard Ian Jackson had one of his best performances during that same win with 19 points, five rebounds, and a career-high five steals—becoming the first St. John’s player this season to tally five or more steals in a single game.

Tuesday’s meeting between St. John’s and Georgetown marks their 128th encounter since beginning their rivalry in 1909; St. John’s has won ten straight matchups against Georgetown—a streak tied for longest in series history—and set a program record earlier this season with fifteen three-pointers during a win over Georgetown on New Year’s Eve.

Georgetown enters Tuesday’s contest with an overall record of 13-16 (5-13 BIG EAST) after losing six consecutive games since February 7th; most recently falling to Xavier by seven points last Saturday despite former St. John’s player Vince Iwuchukwu scoring fifteen points for Georgetown.

In Ed Cooley’s third year as head coach, Georgetown sits tied for tenth place in conference standings after losing leading scorer KJ Lewis to injury last week; Malik Mack now leads active scorers averaging nearly fourteen points per game.

St. John’s plays its home games primarily in Queens, New York (official website) but hosts select major contests like Senior Night at Madison Square Garden—a venue where they have seen considerable success over recent seasons (official website). The program participates in the Big East Conference (official website), competes under the “Red Storm” nickname (official website), and has claimed six Big East Tournament championships along with two NIT titles (official website).

After facing Georgetown on Senior Night, St John’s will conclude its regular season Friday against Seton Hall inside Prudential Center.
