The St. John’s baseball team will travel to North Carolina for a three-game series against Charlotte beginning Friday, March 12. The Red Storm are set to start a seven-game road trip over the next 11 days, with all games at Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium available for streaming on ESPN+.

This matchup is significant as it marks only the second all-time series between St. John’s and Charlotte, with the 49ers currently leading the series 3-0. The Red Storm enter the weekend after splitting their midweek games, losing to Fairfield but securing a walk-off win over Marist.

In Tuesday’s game against Fairfield, St. John’s lost 6-4 after giving up three runs in the seventh inning despite a four-run third highlighted by Adam Agresti’s two-run homer and Shaun McMillan’s RBI double. On Wednesday, Agresti delivered again with a walk-off two-run homer in the ninth inning against Marist, marking his third consecutive game with a two-run home run at Jack Kaiser Stadium.

Statistically, St. John’s leads the BIG EAST Conference with a .978 fielding percentage and ranks among national leaders in several pitching categories, including hits allowed per nine innings (7.96) and WHIP (1.46). Individual standouts include Evan Chaffee, who ranks third in the conference for fewest walks allowed per nine innings (2.05), and Ian Mowad, who is fourth in earned run average (2.50). At bat, Agresti has hit five home runs this season, placing him fifth in the conference.

Charlotte enters the series on a four-game winning streak and boasts an overall record of 12-4, including a notable victory over No. 11 Virginia earlier this month. Most recently, Alec DeMartino set a program record by driving in nine runs during Charlotte’s win over Campbell on Tuesday night.

After completing their weekend series against Charlotte, St. John’s will return to New York to face local rival Stony Brook for a midweek contest on St. Patrick’s Day.
