The St. John’s men’s tennis team will compete in two matches this weekend, starting with a Big East contest against Creighton on Friday at the USTA National Tennis Center, according to a March 11 announcement. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m., followed by an away game against Brown on Sunday at the Varsity Tennis Courts in Providence, Rhode Island.
These matches are significant as they continue the Red Storm’s season in NCAA Division I athletics within the Big East Conference, where intercollegiate competition is a key focus for the program according to the official website. The team represents St. John’s University and is known for its participation in collegiate athletics under the Red Storm mascot.
Last weekend, St. John’s finished its Florida road trip with a narrow 4–3 win over Mercer before losing to FGCU, 4–1. Creighton enters Friday’s match having won three of its last four games, including a recent victory over Georgetown. This matchup also serves as a rematch of the 2025 Big East Championship, where St. John’s defeated Creighton 4–0 to claim the conference title.
St. John’s has maintained an edge over Creighton in recent years, winning each of their last four meetings since 2014. Friday marks their fourth consecutive season facing each other.
Brown comes into Sunday’s contest with an 11–5 record and is currently on a four-match winning streak after victories over Binghamton, Boston University, Navy, and Georgetown. The Bears hold a slight advantage in their series history with St. John’s but lost last year’s meeting in Queens.
Following these matches, St. John’s will next play against Monmouth on Tuesday; details about that match will be announced later.
