The St. John’s men’s tennis team defeated Georgetown 6-1 on Apr. 1 in College Park, Maryland, maintaining an undefeated record in Big East Conference play.
This win brings the Red Storm’s overall record to 14-5 and keeps them perfect at 4-0 within the conference. The result highlights St. John’s continued success against Georgetown, with the team now holding a 15-3 advantage in matches dating back to 2004 and extending their winning streak in the series to seven consecutive matches.
The Red Storm started strong by sweeping all doubles matches, including a decisive victory from Mats Pottbecker and Sergej Zivkovic on the No. 1 court and another from Adam Groves and Semen Agynskyy on court three. In singles play, Danilo Raicevic secured a straight-set win at No. 6 singles before Radomir Tomic extended the lead at No. 1 singles with a two-set victory over Arthur O’Sullivan.
Semen Agynskyy contributed his second win of the day at No. 3 singles, helping clinch the overall match for St. John’s before additional victories from Venedikt Tsirikidze and Groves closed out the contest. Georgetown managed one point at No. 2 singles but could not overcome St. John’s depth across other courts.
