The St. John’s baseball program announced on April 29 that it will host The Jack Kaiser Golf Classic this summer for the first time since 2019. The event is scheduled for Monday, June 22, at The Woodside Club in Syosset.
The golf classic aims to bring together alumni and fans of the St. John’s baseball program in support of the team. Head Coach Mike Hampton said, “We’re thrilled to bring back The Jack Kaiser Golf Classic. This is an event that we’ve been trying to reinstate for years, as we know how much our alumni and fans cherish the opportunity to gather together and support our proud program.”
The event is named after Jack Kaiser, a longtime coach and athletic director at St. John’s who dedicated parts of nine decades to the university before his passing in 2022. Organizers say the day will celebrate both Kaiser’s legacy and the future of Red Storm baseball.
During the event, Mary Pat Beirne will receive The Jack Kaiser Advocate Award for her nearly two decades of service in various administrative roles at St. John’s athletics department. This award is described as the highest honor given by the baseball program to someone who demonstrates loyalty, dedication, and exceptional support similar to Coach Kaiser’s example.
Activities begin with breakfast and driving range access at 10 a.m., followed by a noon shotgun start on the course. A post-round cocktail hour runs from 5 p.m.-7:30 p.m., featuring hors d’oeuvres along with a BBQ lunch served during play and multiple food stations throughout the course. Participants will also receive gifts and have opportunities to win prizes during contests held throughout the day.
