Speaker Carl Heastie and Assemblymember Paula Elaine Kay visited the Sullivan County Federation for the Homeless to announce $1 million in funding. The funds are intended to help the federation improve its capacity to provide food and shelter for families in Sullivan County.
“For decades, community members have been able to rely on support from the Sullivan County Federation for the Homeless in in their times of need,” said Speaker Heastie. “I’m honored to announce this funding today that will support the federation’s mission to continue providing vital resources to local families as they get back on their feet.”
“So many of our neighbors rely on the vital support the Sullivan County Federation for the Homeless provides,” said Assemblymember Kay. “This funding will be a vital resource to them, allowing them to grow and ensure that they have the opportunity to support even more families across our communities.”
During their visit, Speaker Heastie and Assemblymember Kay met with members of the federation’s board and learned about ongoing capital project plans. The newly announced $1 million will enable completion of these projects so that local families can continue receiving necessary services. This new allocation is in addition to a previous $100,000 grant from Assemblymember Kay, which was used by the federation for improvements such as new furnaces, enhanced handicap access, and refurbishment of its main entrance.
