Sabrina Ionescu has been named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week by the WNBA, marking her ninth career weekly honor. This achievement places her second in Liberty history for such accolades.
During the period from July 3 to July 13, Ionescu’s performance was pivotal for New York Liberty, who recorded a 3-1 record. Her statistics included an average of 19.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 6.3 assists, and 1.8 steals per game. She ranked among the top three in the East for both scoring and assists and led her team in points during two games with notable performances against the Aces and Seattle.
Ionescu also excelled defensively, leading all guards in the East with a total of 25 rebounds over this period. She was particularly effective in transition play, leading the East with an average of 4.5 points off turnovers per game, including a standout performance against Vegas.
This recognition makes New York Liberty the first team this season to have two different players receive Player of the Week honors, following TCloud’s earlier win in Week 1. The franchise now boasts a total of 62 weekly awards.
