Ritchie Torres, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 15th district since 2021, addressed several key topics in a series of recent posts on his social media account.
On July 17, 2025, Torres shared news of an upcoming media appearance: “Had a great conversation with @DanaBashCNN today about the future of the Democratic Party. Dropping next week!”
Later that same day, he commented on congressional budget decisions affecting public broadcasting: “Today, Senate Republicans voted to drastically cut funds for NPR and PBS, slashing over a billion dollars from public media that millions of Americans depend on. These cuts will hit rural communities the hardest: the very places that rely on local stations for emergency alerts,” posted Torres at 21:16 UTC.
On July 18, Torres turned his attention to energy issues in Puerto Rico: “Puerto Rico deserves a stable, reliable electric grid. At the latest House Natural Resources Committee hearing, I pressed PR’s FOMB Director Robert Mujica to make solving the island’s energy crisis a top priority.”
Torres has represented New York’s 15th District in Congress since replacing José E. Serrano in 2021 and is known for focusing on issues relevant both to his constituents in The Bronx—where he was born in 1988 and continues to reside—and broader national concerns.
