Rep. Ritchie Torres, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 15th district since 2021, has been vocal on social media about several issues impacting his constituents and the broader American public. Born in The Bronx in 1988, Torres continues to reside there while actively participating in legislative matters.

On May 7, 2025, Torres commented on the firing of commissioners by former President Donald Trump. He stated that these commissioners were dismissed for “voting to protect the American people from dangerous lithium-ion battery fires.” In his tweet, he criticized Trump’s actions with a pointed remark: “Trump wants to Make America Burn Again.”

In another post dated May 9, 2025, Torres highlighted the need for City Hall to act promptly regarding federal funding secured for the Harlem River Environmental Restoration Project. He noted that although Congress had allocated funds for this project, it remains stalled without a $500K local match from the city. He urged City Hall to ensure this investment is realized.

Torres’ statements underscore his commitment to safety regulations and environmental restoration efforts in his district and beyond.
