Rep. Ritchie Torres, a U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 15th district since 2021, recently shared his thoughts on various issues via social media. The tweets reflect his perspectives on law enforcement practices, community engagement, and federal appointments.
On June 17, 2025, Rep. Torres expressed strong disapproval of an incident involving the arrest of a Comptroller by ICE agents at an immigration courthouse. He described the situation as “a grotesque perversion of justice.” He further criticized the actions as political intimidation rather than legitimate law enforcement.
The following day, June 18, Rep. Torres shared his enthusiasm for town hall meetings with constituents in a tweet stating “I love town halls.” He mentioned participating in an event with the Ben Franklin Reform Democratic Club to listen to his constituents’ concerns and emphasized that their voices influence his work in Washington.
Later that same day, he tweeted about Secretary Hegseth’s views on diversity initiatives within federal hiring practices. In a brief comment accompanied by a link, he remarked “Sec. Hegseth loves DEI: D-list hires who promote Extremism and Intolerance.”
Torres has been actively serving in Congress since replacing José E. Serrano in 2021 and continues to engage with issues pertinent to his constituency from The Bronx.
